The Copa Santander Libertadores de América, is an international soccer tournament organized by the South American Football Confederation. It is the most important American club competition in the continent. The club with the most championships is Independiente, with seven titles. Copa Libertadores started in the year 1960 and its name is a tribute to the heroes of South American history.
COMPETITION RULES
In the Copa Santander Libertadores 32 clubs participate that are divided into 8 groups. The groups are raffled at the start of the competition. Each team faces in round-trip matches with the rest of the teams from their same group. Then the first 2 classified of each group pass to the next round, which is by lottery and that makes round-trip confrontations going on to the next round and until reaching the final between 2 teams to a single match.
